Microstructure
Monel400 is a solid solution binary alloy. Nickel and copper can be miscible in any proportion, so it is a single phase alloy. Has a face-centered cubic lattice structure.
Characters
Monel400 is a kind of corrosion resistant alloy with the largest amount, the most widely used and excellent comprehensive performance. The alloy has excellent resistance to hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas medium, and excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated lye. It is also resistant to corrosion of neutral solution, water, seawater, atmosphere and organic compound. One important characteristic of the alloy is that no stress corrosion crack is produced and its machinability is good
Corrosion Resistance
Monel 400 alloy shows corrosion resistance to many reducing media. Are generally more erosion-resistant in oxidative media than alloys containing higher copper. This versatility makes the alloy suitable for a variety of environments.
Monel400 Widely used in ocean engineering. The alloy product showed low corrosion rate in liquid seawater, but showed cracks with rot and spot properties in static ring filling. The alloy is also resistant to stress corrosion rupture and pitting in most fresh and industrial waters.
Monel400 Especially resistant to the corrosion of hydrofluoric acid at all concentrations, even at up to boiling point. This alloy is probably the most corrosion-resistant of all the commonly used engineered alloys, which is also resistant to many forms of reducing sulfuric and hydrochloric acid.
