409 stainless steel plate
Model 409 is a thermostable ferrite stainless steel with good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel. This titanium stabilization plate was developed for automotive exhaust systems, but its good formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance enable its use in other applications.

Corrosion resistance
Grade 409 stainless steel panels have excellent exhaust gas resistance and atmospheric corrosion resistance, better than 410 martensite steel and 3CR12 containing 12% chromium. However, its corrosion resistance is lower than that of the grade 430 steel plate containing 17% chromium. The surface of Grade 409 steel plate is prone to mild corrosion, which limits the use of steel for decorative purposes.
heat resistance
Grade 409 stainless steel plate provide scale resistance during continuous operation at temperatures up to 675°C and up to 815°C under intermittent conditions. These temperatures are related to the specific service environment.
heat treatment
Annealing of the grade 409 steel plate was performed in a temperature range of 790 to 900°C, followed by air cooling. Heat treatment will not harden grade 409 steel.
